Help with infant eczema? 9 Months ago
My 4 month old has been diagnosed to have eczema on her back and shoulders (and very dry skin on her arms and legs as well). At first the doctor told us Aquafor, and that did absolutely nothing at all. Then I tried to new Aveeno that is supposedly good for eczema (as told on the bottle). Nothing. After going to a dermatologist he prescribed a cortisone cream, very low dose, that we could use for two weeks. After two weeks, it was back to same as it was. So I started using Weleda (a natural brand that contains calendula) and it seemed to help a bit, but she's still SO dry. I'd have to put the cream on every hour for it to not be flaky.Has anyone used anything fairly natural (no petroleum please) that worked well for eczema? I just want to give my poor baby girl some relief.

Cortisone cream is horrible. i have a five yr old. she had eczema all her life. the only cream that ever worked for her was called TRIAMCINOLONE 0.1% . both my daughter and sisters have been using it since they were 2 months old. its the best thing we've found so far. ask your doctor for it. you cant buy it over the counter

My little man has a mild case of eczema also. What you can try is Eucerin cream (dermatologist recommended) with hydrocortisone cream. I use these two products on him and it helps him out a lot. Hope this works for you if you try it. Good luck.

what soap do you use on your baby when you bathe her? scented soaps and lotions and frequent baths irritate the skin and bring out the eczema.

my son had the same prob. I don't use anything on him now. No soap no cream. I only use very mild laundry soap and rinse extra.when I give my baby a bath I just use water even on his hair. It has really helped.

Try to avoid using soap on the affected areas. And cut down on the bath time. water drys the skin. You don't have to bah her every day either. My children had it and are now better.I used aveeno and E45 (maybe that's petroleum based, not sure). Also I used to rub olive oil on him and rinse quickly with water after to remove the excess.Good luck!
